Defining Allyship within NAHSE

The health care industry represents a dynamic marketplace that presents many opportunities and challenges for health care professionals. NAHSE members represent a broad range of professionals who directly serve state and federal government health care offices, private payers, nearly every hospital or other clinical site, and academic institutions across the country. In health care, it is essential that current and future health professionals align themselves with organizations like the National Association of Health Services Executives that help to connect health professionals across the country. By becoming a member of NAHSE, you can actively participate in enhancing your career. NAHSE strives to serve as a vehicle by which Black health care leaders can help improve the health status, economic opportunities, and educational advancement of the communities we serve. Membership Benefits
Affiliation with one of NAHSE’s local chapters which allow for great educational and networking opportunities. Annual Educational Conference with healthcare related programs and well-known speakers and eligibility for pre-approved ACHE Qualified Education credits (non-ACHE) for this program toward advancement, or re-certification in the American College of Healthcare Executives. An annual CEO/Senior Executive program that focuses on the leader’s role in healthcare. Young Healthcare Professionals Forum for students and early careerists. On-Line Career Center for members to post their resume and employers to post positions that are seeking experience minority professionals.
Membership Guidelines
Active membership shall be available to those persons of acceptable character, education, and financial activity who are experienced employees in the health services administration field or who have executive or administrative responsibility for health care delivery, including teaching, or who are engaged in planning, consultation, legislation, publication, and other activities related to healthcare services and its delivery provided: Such persons are not interested in NAHSE solely for personal gain or employment; Such persons do not have or have not demonstrated moral, philosophical, or ideological views or directions and actions contrary to the goals and objectives of NAHSE; and such persons remain financially active with the organization.
Membership Chapters
NAHSE Bylaws specify state that all members of the local chapter must be personal, student or institutional members of the Association. Payment of Chapter dues allows you the opportunity to take advantage of the many benefits offered by the local chapter in your city or the city nearest you. Benefits include local newsletters, local educational sessions, regular meetings and many networking opportunities. NOTE: Local Chapter membership is required for any individual residing within 75 miles of a listed Chapter.
Personal Membership
Personal members are persons with a background in health and medical care administration, having successfully completed an approved program in hospital administration, and/or health services administration, business administration, public health, medicine, economics, and other related collegiate or graduate degrees deemed appropriate by the Board of Directors or persons with a background in health and medical care administration and health services delivery systems having experience in these fields that can be considered adequate to have attained an in-depth knowledge of the chosen area of endeavor.
JoinStudent Membership
Student members are full time students that are not employed full time and matriculated in approved programs in those fields mentioned in Personal member and other fields deemed appropriate by the Board of Directors. Student members must transition to personal membership upon the successful completion of the academic program. If necessary, NAHSE reserves the right to request proof of full time academic enrollment.
JoinAssociate Membership
Associate members are persons or entities interested in supporting the goals and objectives of NAHSE but are neither eligible for personal nor institutional membership. Associate members must be a member of the nearest Local Chapter, in addition to being a member of the Association.
JoinRetiree Membership
Retired members must be 65 years of age or older. Members must have been an active paid member of the organization at least five (5) years of the last 10 year period. Member must be retired from full time employment.
JoinInstitutional Member
Institutional members are organizations and agencies which are interested in and support the programs, aims and goals of NAHSE and are desirous of contributing to its cause either in the form of financial support or other in-kin aid. The rights and privileges of the Institutional members are determined solely by the Board of Directors. Institutional members can be members of the Local Chapter only with the approval and under the guidelines set down by the Local Chapter. Institutional members include organizations such as hospitals, medical centers, neighborhood health centers, group practices, health care systems, health insurance companies, managed care entities, coordinated care entities and all other organizations supporting the purposes of NAHSE.
